These masters were promising young artists

Pablo Picasso - 14 years old

Picasso is one of the most creative and influential artists in Contemporary Western world. He and his paintings occupy an immortal position in the history of world art. When he was seven, he could draw college sketches. Picasso, in his 14, enrolled in a senior class at Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona, painted The First Communion, and was able to deal with the difficult details at a young age. In the same year, he painted "Portrait of Aunt Pepa", the vivid spirit of the portrait that Juan exclaimed, "no doubt, one of the best paintings in the history of Spanish art."

 


Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn - 17 years old

Rembrandt, the greatest painter of Holland, who was born in a fairly well-off family, became famous at the age of 14 entered Leiden University, and he entered Amsterdam to study when he was 17. At the age of 21, he had mastered the skills of oil painting, sketching and etch, and opened the apprenticeship class. At the age of 26, he drew "Professor Tilp's dissection class" and broke through the rigid course of the group portrait. The type, composition and processing of the characters look lifelike and vivid, and full of Holland orders continuously. The first painting he completed in 17 years old named “An Eyeglasses Peddler" had already sold at extraordinary high price. Unfortunately, the latter half of his life was down and out, and he finally died in solitude.

Leonardo da Vinci - 18 years old

Leonardo was a unique versatile person in the history of mankind. He was a knowledgeable person in Italy Renaissance, who was proficient in all kinds of art. From childhood, he loved painting. He went to Florence with his father at 14 years old. He entered the art workshop hosted by Vero Zio, a famous painter and sculptor, and studied painting. When he was 18 years old, he helped Vee Lo Keogh to draw the baptism of Christ, although he had only painted an angel kneeling next to Christ,  the expression and soft color under his brush had obviously surpassed his teacher's work.

 

Joseph Mallord William Turner - 19 years old

Turner was a famous German painter, printmaker and woodcut designer. His special painting talents revealed when he was served his apprenticeship after his father. When he was 13 years old, he painted himself a white portrait with silver needle pen. His beautiful and delicate brushwork had shown his great artistic talent. The portrait of his father he made when he was 19 showed his mature sketch skills. In his famous discussion on the Renaissance of Europe, Engels regarded him as an outstanding figure like Leonardo da Vinci. Although this reputation was a bit exaggerated, it also illustrates Turner's image in people's minds of genius.
